Dubai Chocolate Matcha

This absolutely HAD to be made into a matcha drink between the texture, balance of flavors, and COLOR of pistachio cream. The result is a deliciously sweet and umami pairing layers beautifully with a textured topping that infuses as you sip.

This iced Dubai chocolate matcha latte is better than Starbucks because it uses REAL ingredients, not just pistachio flavoring but authentic pistachio cream and real ketaifi go into the topping

Ingredients:

Base:

Milk of choice for base, mix in any desired syrups. I chose chocolate with dairy milk and a bit of simple syrup.

Matcha powder, hot water to prepare the matcha, milk of choice for base.


Topping:

Ketaifi: Toasted philo bits from Amazon:

Heavy Cream or Milk with cold foam maker.
For whipped cream topping:
Add 2 tbsp of pistachio cream to 1 cup of heavy cream and beat with mixer until stiff peaks are formed. Ketaifi pieces added to taste, but sprinkling on top alone is perfect for that signature dubai chocolate crunch.

For cold foam: Add 1 cup of milk of choice and 1 tbsp to cold foam maker. Dairy milk works best for foam that holds, protein is needed for solid bubbles. For cold foam, drizzle a bit or warmed pistachio cream on top of drink along with a quality chocolate sauce.

Chocolate Sauce for topping and chocolate milk latte base. I chose Ghirardelli.


Directions:

Whisk hot water into matcha (1 tsp per ounce, I did 4 tsp for 4oz of matcha.)

For my base, I used Ghirardelli chocolate sauce and 2tsp of simple syrup or sweetness. I added no sugar to my matcha powder so that it would sit on top of my sweet milk base and have a beautiful layered effect as sugary layers sink.

Mix milk base in glass, add a scoop of ice ( I LOVE nugget ice, this maker has been invaluable in my kitchen for a fraction of the cost.)

Pour prepared matcha on top of ice and base, leaving half an inch for foam or whipped cream. Drizzle with additional chocolate sauce, pistachio cream, and sprinkle with ketaifi pieces if desired.

Add a straw and sip!

I love this drink for a decadent energy boost midday. Life lately has two kids in school and this fuels my stroller walk to the first pickup. I often get asked about it and am thrilled to share the recipe. After Dubai chocolate froyo, this iced Dubai chocolate matcha latte is my FAVORITE form!
